Attorney at Law
After obtaining my degree in Psychology, I went to work for Child Protective Services in Texas. While working for CPS, I investigated thousands of child abuse/neglect cases. I was eventually promoted to a supervisory position and developed and supervised a regional night investigation unit.
After leaving CPS, I continued to work for a private foster care agency and residential treatment center. These experiences provided me with extensive knowledge of the foster care system.
After more than 8 years working with children and families, I went to work as a police officer. I worked as a full time officer and later as a reserve sheriff's deputy.
Eventually, I started a real estate appraisal business, appraising all types of residential properties for banks, mortgage companies, and attorneys.
While working for CPS, I began to think about attending law school. I was frustrated by the lack of quality legal representation available to people and how unfairly people were often treated by the legal system. But, personal and other obligations caused me to put off going to law school. After 8 successful years in the appraisal business, I decided it was now or never and applied to law school.
I attended the Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, graduating with Honors. I was a member of the law review and received 3 top paper awards for excellence in legal writing.
I have a passion for representing those who have been treated unfairly by the system. I have a particular interest in appellate criminal cases and I have extensively studied cases of wrongful conviction. I am a firm believer in the Constitution and believe everyone should be treated fairly and justly.
I represent clients throughout the State of Arkansas in Civil Rights Litigation, Domestic Relations and Child Custody cases, Employment Law, General Civil Litigation, and Administrative Law. I also am one of only a few lawyers in the state that specialize in NFA Firearm Trusts.
I am admitted to practice in all Arkansas state courts, the Eastern and Western District of Arkansas federal courts, and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
